::As a Squire of another land, it is not feasible to take advantage of the offer for nobility. Since the war with the goblinoids has slowed down in recent months after their defeat at Shallowford, the goblins haven't been as aggressive with their attacks. But they are still happening. The people that have flooded to Shallowford are not trained in combat, and even the Nobility with access to money only have a few guards, and if they follow their usual nobility tactics, they will only defend their own particular property, even if the rest is burning. Because of this, Walker has decided that all his free time in Aklecium (basically when he isn't on the front lines fighting the goblins) he will defend the defenseless people trying to rebuild their lives at Shallowford. ::
::He has just returned from his patrol around the perimeter with a small rope full of goblin ears. they seem to breed faster than he can kill them, but his presence has at least given them a reason to fear coming closer to Shallowford. On his way to the quartermaster to turn in his bounty, he makes his usual rounds to the outlining farms to make sure they are safe, and to see if they are in need of assistance, in the name of Drakemyre of course. he must be really pissing off some nobility in the area, since many of them seem to have a grudge against Drakemyre for saving their ass a few years back, and to see a squire of Drakemyre making his presence known must grind on them.::

"Strange things have been happening in this town. The dried up riverbed which has been empty of water for some time, ended up being stolen... leeched from this land. at several points a few miles up, the water has been diverted into small caves, which are guarded by mud golems and a strange creature with green flaming eyes. the water is being sucked up by several small pillars that create a vortex, pulling the water even uphill, never to be seen again. Adaros, Wolfspirit, myself and many newer adventurers with much spirit explored several of these caves and after a hard battle, eventually defeated the guardians of one of these pillars. after taking the pillar back to town, we have come to the chilling conclusion that this pillar is of Mephosian origin. weather or not it is the beginning of a new invasion or remnants of the previous invasion has yet to be determined. but what we do know is the barbarian tribe of the sand local to the area worships these creatures and calls them water spirits, even though they are not. There are many symbols on the top of the pillar, some of which loosely look like representations of various elements."
::Walker Sighs and stops writing in his journal and rubs his eyes. the small flame dancing on top of the candle makes shadows on the pillar which play tricks on his eyes, and is proving inadequate for writing and reading. He rubs his frozen hands together over the candle, wishing Adaros had put the circle indoors, the small tent he erected inside the circle has done little to stave off the chill, only to divert the wind that carries the cold front. He hopes he hears a reply soon from his friend, who knows much more about this object than Walker could ever hope to learn. After getting the feeling back to his fingers he dips his quill into the ink, and after tapping it a few times on the rim to get any excess ink off, he continues writing.:: "upon a magical examination, it seems that there are magical buttons beneath each symbol that when pushed, change the very magic of the pillar, but since this is of Mephosian design, the magic has yet to fully activate because it is in a circle of power. because of the ambitious efforts of Adaros, and the trickery of the fey known as kale, many buttons have been pushed, and i a afraid to carry this object outside of the circle by any means other than a spirit walk. I will go to the library in Soldrien to see if i can find any reference to the Mephosian language, or to this object in particular."
::Walker transcribes the symbols and a somewhat detailed sketch of the pillar onto a separate piece of paper, making sure to draw the symbols accurately. When he is done, he recovers the pillar with the brown blanket that was found with it. due to the smell of the blanket, he suspects it was nothing more than bedding for the creature that guarded the piller, but he chooses to cover it anyways. better safe than sorry. He blows out the candle and curls up in the corner. there is no where else to sleep, and he has yet to build the embassy, so he makes due with what he has.::
::As the sun comes up, he gets out of bed to work that nights chill out of his bones. he preps for his journey to the library and begins his trek. on horseback, the travel does not take too long. he does not yet trust the gates that have been erected, and even if he did, there are no gates near here that he knows of. He hopes that Elidore gets his letter and meets him at In the library like the letter indicated. If he wishes to see the object in person we can always gate back, since there is a gate for sure in the capital city. having been to the library several times before, he knows exactly where it is::

::Since his search has obviously yielded no results, he changes the search topic to his ring. Walker takes out his fathers ring and looks at the inscription on the inside of the band. he must have done this a thousand times, and just like every other time, he is unable to read the inscription. but this time, he transcribes it to paper. he approaches the local librarian:: "Excuse me sir, I am looking to translate these two different writings. Would you happen to know anything about it?"
::he shows the librarian the Mephosian symbols and the inscription of his fathers ring.::
