"Help! Help!!!" Reina's scream for aid wasn't loud enough for the guards to hear. She was just outside of Soldrien when she found herself face to face with a giant scorpion. Like a predator toying with its prey, the creature had her cornered and would block her path whenever she tried to make an escape. Although she can see the city and the sun setting from the corner of her eye, it was still quite a distance. Reina darts to the left but instead slips on a rock then falls on the hard ground. The giant scorpion raises it stinger preparing to strike. Realizing the worse is to come, Reina closes her eyes tight and braced for the attack but opened them once again upon hearing the sound of wooden wheels rolling quickly towards her direction...
Rapidly driving his chariot towards the large creature, Antonius had an advantage coming from behind. Upon reaching the proper distance, he leaps from the chariot with his sword raised above his head, delivering a downward slash to the scorpion's stinger. A critical attack strong enough to slay most creatures of his own strength. The creature reels back then starts moving around aimlessly, it's tail swinging violently from side to side. The soldier roughly lands on his feet and couldn't help but strike a pose. Reina looks at the man with eyes wide open then found herself hiding behind a boulder. Curiosity got her watching the soldier, however, who drew another sword, realizing the scorpion still wanted a fight. Claws struck at Antonius wildly, the wounded scorpion bypassing the human's dual wield defense. The Royal Army officer struggled against the barrage of attacks but suddenly felt the claws penetrating his steel lorica segmentata armor. Antonius retaliates with a flurry of his own but trading blows with the animal proved to be suicidal. The giant scorpion mercilessly strikes Antonius down, leaving him lying in the pool of his own blood...
Reina watched helplessly, expecting the scorpion to come after her next. To her fortune, the creature wanders off to the forest instead, too wounded to attempt anything else. Antonius did not go down without a fight and left much damage to the scorpion's stinger and carapace. "No, don't die. d**n it, don't die..." Reina rushed to the unconcious soldier and begins freeing him from his heavy armor. Mustering all her strength, she managed to get Antonius on his chariot. Getting the horse to move them back to town wasn't a problem. Having a father who was a stable master for several nobles in Soldrien, she learned a thing or two. After passing the gates, she took Antonius straight to the local Earth's Guild hoping with all her heart that it wasn't too late...
"We've healed his wounds but he's very sore." an Earth caster tells Reina. "Before this incident, he had a mild fever so he's going to need rest for a few days." Reina sighs in relief and gave her thanks to the Earth's Guild member. Throughout the whole night, she sat on a chair by Antonius' bed. She almost fell asleep up until the soldier rose to sit, heavily breathing as if he was still in combat. "It's over. Go back to sleep." Reina assures Antonius who was still a bit dis-oriented. Realizing where he was, he sinks back down to the bed and looks to the woman. "I usually don't end up here after a fight." the soldier tried to convince her with a thingyy tone and a weak smile. Reina was stunned at the remark and couldn't help but shake her head and roll her eyes. "Right... well, thank you for saving me out there. You didn't kill it but you did enough to make it go away." Antonius' lips curved to a grin for a moment then feigned a serious stare, "Save you? I didn't even see you. I just wanted to fight the scorpion." Reina's jaw dropped in disbelief. "You lying pig! You did so see me!" she shouts while rising to her feet, each arms crossed over her chest. "No I didn't. I could have killed it as well if I wasn't sick." Antonius closes his eyes, his lips formed another weak smile. "How can you be so thingyy?! You were practically dead when I brought you here!" Reina leaned over to the soldier, demanding an answer. "Wait, I thought I was the hero? According to your story, I saved you first so I think you owe me a kiss." Antonius opens his eyes and playfully puckers his lips. Reina couldn't help but stifle a laugh. "Shut up." she says softly, placing a firm kiss upon Antonius' forehead. "No more talking. Go back to bed and tell me if you need anything." Reina returns to her seat, trying to hide her smile from the soldier. "Fair enough. You owe me your name after I wake up though." Antonius replies just before closing his eyes to sleep.
The End.
